Family Services

These are special services for children and parents.

Tot Shabbat - This Shabbat experience is a wonderful opportunity for families with young (and even the youngest) children to sing songs, hear stories, and enjoy the special day. The service runs from 5:30 to 6:15 PM and occurs about seven times a year.

Family Service - The first Friday of the month at 7:00 PM (During summer hours the service begins at 5:45 PM.) The Cantor leads this slightly abbreviated, regular service with participation from all students, preschool through 7th grade. Families with children of ALL ages are encouraged to attend.

Club Shabbat - On these Saturday mornings from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, a separate service is held downstairs for children in preschool through 1st grade. Parents may drop off their children if the children can handle the service on their own (this is not a babysitting program). Children are taken through a basic Sabbath morning service. Adults are encouraged to stay and also learn the essential parts of the service!

Kindercare and Kiddush - On these Saturday mornings, babysitting will be provided for children in one of the downstairs classrooms. During the course of the morning, an adult will visit to read a story or teach a prayer. The children will also be brought upstairs to participate in one of the Torah processionals. At the end of the morning's activities, the children will have their own celebration of Shabbat with juice and challah and then join their parents for the Kiddush upstairs.

Junior Congregation - This Saturday morning program runs from 10:30 AM  to 12:00 PM and is for students in grades 2 through 5. Children celebrate Shabbat with their peers in a learning environment, focusing on different prayers each month in order to build a solid foundation for b'nai mitzvah.

Torah Reading Club - Sixth grade students develop their Torah reading skills with Morah Julie Schwarzwald during this Saturday morning program. This program runs from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

Mincha-Ma'ariv-Havdalah - Every Saturday afternoon during the school year, there is a 1-1/2 hour service that is perfect for families to attend together. Each week the service begins at candle lighting time from the night before. The Mincha service is followed by a break to eat and socialize. The evening concludes with the Maariv and Havdalah services. All children are invited onto the bimah for Havdalah.
